Alba Hernandez – Referral Specialist

Brenda has been an integral part of Pomona Valley Podiatry Group for the past three years serving as the Billing Manager for practice.  In this role, she oversees all aspects of the revenue cycle, ensuring accurate and timely submission of insurance claims and managing patient billing inquiries.  She works closely with clinical staff to verify proper documentation and maintain coding compliance, reviews claim denials and rejections and implements corrective action maximize reimbursement and overall financial performance.  

Brenda is also responsible for monitoring accounts receivable, preparing financial reports for leadership and ensuring all billing operations remain compliant with applicable healthcare regulations, including HIPAA standards.  In addition, she supervises and supports the billing team by providing ongoing training on updated coding standards and payer policies.  She serves as the primary liaison between the practice and insurance carriers handling provider contracting and maintaining strong relationships with third-party payers to support the continued growth and operational success of the organization. 

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Brenda enjoys attending automotive events, traveling, photography and participating in outdoor activities reflecting her dynamic and well-rounded personality.

Alba Vasquez – Front Office Manager

As Front Office Manager for our medical practice, Alba is responsible for overseeing the daily administrative operations of the front desk, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for all patients and visitors.  She manages patient scheduling, registration and check-in and check-out procedures, while verifying insurance eligibility and collecting co-pays and outstanding balances. 

Alba supervises and trains front office staff, monitors workflow efficiency, and serves as the primary point of contact for patient inquiries, concerns and complaints, handling them with professionalism and care.  She also coordinates closely with clinical and billing teams to ensure seamless communication across departments, maintains compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations and assists with the preparation of administrative reports for office leadership.  Through strong organizational and interpersonal skills, Alba plays a vital role in maintaining a positive, efficient and patient-centered front office environment.

Alba’s hobbies include hiking, going to the movies as well as reading.  In addition, Alba has a green thumb and has a house full of healthy house plants.

Brenda Madrigal – Billing Manager

Yes, we have two employees with the same name. Mother and daughter. As a Referral Specialist for our medical practice, Alba the younger is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the patient referral process, ensuring timely and accurate communication between our office, specialists and other healthcare providers. She initiates and tracks referral requests as directed by the physician, verifies insurance authorization requirements, and obtains prior authorizations in accordance with individual payer guidelines.

Alba maintains detailed records of all referral activity, follows up with specialty offices to confirm appointment scheduling, and keeps patients informed throughout the process to ensure continuity of care. Alba also works closely with clinical and billing staff to ensure that referral documentation is complete, accurate, and properly recorded in the electronic health record system. Through strong attention to detail and excellent communications skills, Alba plays a critical role in facilitating seamless patient transitions and supporting positive health outcomes.

Alba’s hobbies include taking care of her dog, enjoying her friends and listening to music which goes well with her bubbly personality.

Maria Torres – Back Office Manager

Maria has worked at Pomona Valley Podiatry Group for 14 years.  As the Back Office Manager for our medical practice, Maria is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical operations of the back office, ensuring that all patient care activities are carried out efficiently, safely and in accordance with established medical protocols and regulatory standards.  She supervises and supports clinical staff, including medical assistants providing guidance, training and performance oversight to maintain a high standard of patient care. 

Maria manages the preparation and management of examination rooms, ensures that medical supplies and equipment are adequately stocked and properly maintained and oversees the implementation of infection control and safety procedures.  She also coordinates closely with providers and front office staff to optimize patient flow, reduce wait times and promote seamless communication across all departments.  Additionally, Maria assists with the management of patient records, lab results, prescription refill requests and prior authorizations ensuring that all clinical documentation is accurate and completed in a timely manner.  Through strong leadership and a commitment to excellence, Maria plays an essential role in fostering a productive, compliant and patient-centered environment.  

Maria’s hobbies include going to the movies, camping, caring for her dog and watching for her first grandchild grow up to be like her.

Riza Mariano – Medical Scribe

Riza has worked for Pomona Valley Podiatry Group for 8 years.  Riza gets online with the office every morning via Zoom.  She and her family live in the Philippines.  As a Medical Scribe for our practice, Riza is responsible for accurately documenting patient encounters in real time, ensuring that all physician notes, assessments, and treatment plans are recorded thoroughly and efficiently with the electronic health record system. 

She accompanies the provider during patient visits, capturing detained medical histories, physical examination findings, diagnostic results, and clinical decisions as directed by the physician.  Riza also assists with updating and maintaining patient charts, entering referral information, and ensuring documentation is completed in compliance with medical and legal standards. 

By handling the administrative burden of documentation, she allows the provider to focus more fully on direct patient care, contributing to a smoother and more efficient clinical workflow.  In her spare time, Riza enjoys going to the beach with her family.
